What is CIMPLAPS?
The Center for International Media Law and Policy Studies is the first center of its kind at a public university in the United States. It is part of The Media School at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. The center focuses on studying the legal protection for media rights in Indiana, the United States and the world.
The center’s mission includes engaging in applied and theoretical research about free expression rights; educating the public about free expression issues; developing opportunities for students to work with organizations that promote media freedom; and working with other organizations to improve formal education about media rights.
The center supports the right to free expression but does not advocate for specific political actions designed to advance that right.
The director of the center is Anthony L. Fargo, Ph.D., an associate professor at The Media School.
